Why I love working in pediatrics:

Pediatrics combines communication, creativity and relationship building in a way that can make a lasting impact on a child’s life

My favorite things to work on:

Play-based therapy activities, functional communication for daily routines. I love “light bulb” or “ah hah” moments when a client successfully communicates something important for the first time.

A little about me:

I am a calm, patient and welcoming therapist. I have 2 adult sons (ages: 28 and 22). In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, gardening and spending time with family. I am an animal/reptile lover. I have a Standard Poodle, Bearded Dragon and a Ball Python.

What families can expect from me:

I am an advocate for children and create a positive, encouraging environment where kids feel understood, safe and successful.

Why I love working in pediatrics:

What I love most about working in pediatrics is that it’s fun, rewarding, and never the same day twice. I enjoy empowering children with the tools, skills, and confidence they need to reach their goals and become more independent.

I also thrive on the challenge and fast-paced nature of pediatrics. Every child is unique, which keeps me constantly learning, adapting, and finding creative ways to support each family’s individual needs.

My favorite things to work on:

My favorite things to work on are cooperative play skills, primitive reflex integration, and independent feeding skills related to sensory challenges.

A little about me:

I grew up in Texas and have been a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor providing equine-assisted services since 2019. As a proud military wife and dog mom to two Australian Cattle Dogs and a Terrier mix, animals have always held a special place in my heart. I hope to one day own a farm filled with animals of all kinds.

I’m also the very proud — and self-proclaimed coolest — aunt to 11 nieces and nephews! Outside of work, I enjoy gardening and running with big goals of becoming an ultra trail runner someday.

What families can expect from me:

I will always go above and beyond to provide the education, support, and resources your family needs. I value staying informed through current, evidence-based practices, and I take pride in doing thorough research to ensure I can offer the best possible care and guidance. Thank you in advance for your patience and collaboration.

I am incredibly passionate about working with children and look forward to becoming one of their biggest supporters and new best friends! There is nothing more rewarding than watching a child meet a goal during a session — it still gives me chills every time. I feel truly honored to be part of each child’s journey, helping them discover the potential they’ve always had while supporting them as they grow and blossom at their own pace.

Courtney

Courtney, MS, CCC-SLP

Why I love working in pediatrics:

I love working in pediatrics because I have the opportunity to help children find their voice and build confidence in their communication skills. I also love that therapy can be fun, engaging, and play-based, allowing children to learn in a way that feels natural and exciting to them.

My favorite things to work on:

My favorite areas to target are receptive and expressive language skills. I love that language can be incorporated into so many different activities, games, and play routines, which keeps therapy fun and meaningful for children.

A little about me:

I grew up in Vernon Parish and have always loved working with children. Before going to graduate school, I worked as an SLPA where I quickly fell in love with helping kids learn and communicate through play. When I’m not at work, you can usually find me with an iced coffee in hand, spending time with family and friends, or doing something active outdoors.

What families can expect from me:

Families can expect a positive and supportive environment focused on helping children grow in their communication skills through engaging, individualized therapy. I believe learning happens best when children feel encouraged and motivated, and I value collaborating closely with families to help support success across settings.

Jana, MS, CCC-SLP

Why I love working in pediatrics:

Working in pediatrics gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference during some of the most important years of a child’s development. Children possess tremendous potential, and it is incredibly rewarding to see the meaningful progress they make through therapy. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is watching their confidence grow as they develop stronger communication skills.

My favorite things to work on:

I enjoy working on articulation, language, oral-motor and feeding skills.

A little about me:

I’ve been a speech-language pathologist for 18 years and have worked in pediatrics for almost my entire career. I’ve been married to by husband for over 10 years, and together we have two wonderful sones, ages 9 and 6. I enjoy traveling and making memories with my family.

What families can expect from me:

My goal is to build a trusting relationship with every child and family I work with. Families can expect open communication, compassion, and individualized care tailored to their child’s unique strengths and needs. I belie collaboration is key, so I work closely with parents and caregivers to celebrate progress, address concerns, and provide strategies that can be used at home to support continued growth.

Jessie, MA, CCC-SLP

Why I love working in pediatrics:

I love to do kid things like arts and crafts, play with toys, and build Lego, so that makes my work lots of fun!

My favorite things to work on:

Articulation and phonology (especially linking those to early reading/spelling skills) is probably my favorite. I’m also a big fan of AAC and working with bilingual/multilingual kids.

A little about me:

I grew up in the woods in rural Indiana (Go Hoosiers!!). I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have a 10 year old son, two dogs, a cat, and a snake. I love reading, crafts, sci-fi and nerdy stuff.

What families can expect from me:

I always try to get lots of smiles and laughs! I prioritize connection over compliance and believe that kids can’t learn if they’re not having fun.

Kylynn

Kylynn, OTD, OTR/L

Why I love working in pediatrics:

I love working in pediatrics and focusing on foundational skills that support lifelong learning, participation, and engagement for children. Play-based therapy is incredibly rewarding, and one of my favorite parts of being an OT is watching children achieve their goals and gain confidence in their own abilities. I enjoy collaborating with entire families to support meaningful, family-centered goals and promote success across environments. Pediatric therapy brings a new and exciting challenge each day, as every child benefits from different dynamics, supports, and approaches, and I truly enjoy the creativity and problem-solving that comes with it.

My favorite things to work on:

I enjoy working on primitive reflex integration, self-regulation strategies, and supporting independence with self-care and hygiene skills. I value helping children and families build functional daily routines and foundational skills that promote confidence, regulation, and participation across environments.

A little about me:

My name is Kylynn, and I earned my doctorate degree in occupational therapy from Texas Tech University. I am originally from Texas, with the military bringing us to Louisiana. My husband is active duty in the military and we are blessed with two amazing kiddos, Adalei (3) and Lincoln (1). When I am not at work, you can usually find me spending time with my kids and family, thrifting, or enjoying a good coffee.

What families can expect from me:

Families can expect a fun, supportive, and collaborative environment. I am truly dedicated to each family and strive to provide the highest quality of care possible. I maintain an open line of communication between myself, families, and caregivers to support continuity of care and ensure everyone remains on the same page regarding each child’s needs, progress, and goals.

Samantha

Samantha, COTA/L

Why I love working in pediatrics:

I love working in pediatrics because it allows me to support children as they develop essential skills for independence and daily life. I find it rewarding to help each child progress at their own pace while using play-based, meaningful activities to build confidence. I also value collaborating with families to create supportive routines that extend progress beyond the therapy session. Seeing small gains turn into meaningful functional improvements is what makes this work especially fulfilling.

My favorite things to work on:

Some of my favorite areas to work on are motor planning and visual motor skills. In simple terms, motor planning is a child’s ability to figure out how to do a new movement or task step by step, like learning how to climb, dress, or use tools. Visual motor integration is the ability to use what the eyes see to guide hand movements, like coloring within lines, copying shapes, or catching a ball. I enjoy helping children build these skills through fun, play-based activities so they can become more confident and independent in everyday tasks.

A little about me:

I am a proud mom of four children and truly enjoy spending time with my family. In my free time, I love camping, fishing, and swimming. I value life’s simple pleasures, like sitting around a campfire and sharing s’mores with my family or playing board games.

What families can expect from me:

Families can expect me to provide consistent, compassionate, and goal-focused care for their child. I focus on helping children build the skills they need for everyday activities through fun, play-based, and meaningful interventions. I value clear communication with families and make it a priority to share progress, offer practical strategies, and support carryover at home. My goal is to create a positive and encouraging environment where each child can grow in confidence, independence, and ability.

Sheila

Sheila, CCC-SLP

Why I love working in pediatrics:

I love working with pediatric clients because I love kids!  I love building relationships with them and their families and watching their confidence grow as their communication skills improve. Kids bring so much energy, creativity, and joy to each day, and it’s very rewarding to help them on their journey.

My favorite things to work on:

My favorite area of speech therapy is articulation.  I love being able to help clients improve their speech intelligibility so that they can be understood by family and friends. It is so exciting when a client is finally able to make a target sound that they’ve been working on!  The excitement on their face makes the work all worthwhile!

A little about me:

I have over 30 years of experience as a speech pathologist working in a variety of settings.  I retired from the Texas public school system with 25 years of experience so most of my experience is with children.  I am married, have 3 grown sons, and now live at Toledo Bend Lake.  I am a huge animal lover and have 3 rescue dogs so most of my free time is spent with my dogs.

What families can expect from me:

Families can expect dedication from me.  I am always dedicated to making sure I give 100% to each client. I value strong communication with families and want parents to feel involved, informed, and supported throughout their child’s progress.
