Why I love working in pediatrics:
Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to work with children. As the oldest of four siblings, I naturally took on a caregiving role and found so much joy in helping and encouraging my younger brothers and sisters.
I connect with children easily because I truly am a child at heart. I love being playful, creative, and willing to be a little silly. Building relationships through laughter, imagination, and fun comes naturally to me, and I love creating an environment where children feel safe, understood, and excited to learn. Watching a child gain confidence, master a new skill, or accomplish something they once thought they couldn’t is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
My favorite things to work on:
ADHD, Autism, Sensory processing, and emotional regulation
A little about me:
I have been a pediatric occupational therapist for seven years, and I truly love what I do. I am married to my wonderful husband, and together we have a sweet baby girl, an energetic two-year-old son, and an Australian Shepherd named Eevee. Outside of work, I love music, traveling, and making memories with my family.
Growing up with ADHD has given me a unique perspective that I bring into my practice every day. It allows me to better understand many of the challenges children and their families face, and it helps me recognize each child’s individual strengths and needs. My goal is always to help children feel confident, capable, and supported while partnering closely with their families throughout their journey.
What families can expect from me:
Families can expect a thoughtful, compassionate, and holistic approach to every evaluation and treatment session. I believe that every child is unique, and I want to understand the whole picture, not just the challenges that brought them to therapy. I take the time to learn about your child’s strengths, interests, routines, and environment so we can identify the underlying factors that may be affecting their development.
One of my strengths is recognizing patterns and connecting the dots that others may overlook. I enjoy taking a big-picture approach to problem solving, ensuring that we address the root of a challenge rather than just the symptoms. My goal is to partner with families every step of the way, creating individualized treatment plans that help children thrive and reach their fullest potential.
Bailey, MS, L-CCC-SLP
Why I love working in pediatrics:
I love helping children learn to communicate and celebrating all the little milestones along the way. There's truly nothing better than seeing a child connect with their family in a new way.
My favorite things to work on:
Early language development, articulation, AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication).
A little about me:
I earned my masters in Speech-Language Pathology from University of Louisiana Monroe. During my free time, I love spending time with my family/friends, needlepointing, reading, and making sourdough.
What families can expect from me:
A therapist who is caring, easy to talk to, and focused on making therapy fun and meaningful. I love partnering with families and finding simple ways to support communication during everyday routines.
Blair, MCD, L- CCC-SLP
Why I love working in pediatrics:
I love playing a role in and seeing the progress these sweet children make. From children who are just starting to talk and communicate up to those who need a little help producing speech sounds or improving language skills, I love having a hand in their development.
My favorite things to work on:
Some of my favorite areas to work on with children would be social, play, articulation, and language skills. All areas of which I try to find fun activities to keep the children engaged and entertained during therapy sessions.
A little about me:
I graduated from the school of Allied Health Professionals at LSU Health in December of 2022. I did my clinical fellowship years at the NWLA Veterans home before applying for a part time position here at Little Works in Progress. During that time, I realized my love for working with pediatrics and decided to apply for a full time position at Little Works. I have been working here full time since November 2023 and could not be happier with my choice.
What families can expect from me:
I do my best to stay in contact and available with the families that I work with. You can expect a summary of what the sessions entailed, timely responses to any questions or concerns, and consistent support for at home carryover of skills and needs. Additionally, families can expect collaboration between myself and the parents to ensure we are both doing everything possible to help the child achieve their goals.

Why I love working in pediatrics:
Kids love to have fun and try new games and activities. They also keep you on your toes and you learn something new every single day. In pediatrics I find you see progress quicker which is so rewarding for both you as a therapist, the child, and the family.
My favorite things to work on:
I love to work on visual motor skills! Matching, seek and find, word searches, etc. I haven’t worked with this as much but I recently started enjoying working on how to use adaptive equipment/strategiea with children. Which could be a new type of scissors, different ways to hold objects, tying shoes with a “cheat code.”
A little about me:
I am 23 and have been a COTA for a little over a year. Throughout school I was in the minority of wanting to work in geriatrics. But here I am working in peds and I love it! I love art and music and try to incorporate it into sessions. I am a pickleball junkie, so when I’m not at work that’s where you’ll find me. I love what I do and I love seeing the progress from week to week!
What families can expect from me:
You can expect that I will always prioritize having fun in my sessions. Of course kids need structure, and there is usually a part of session that is structured. But most kids respond better to play and fun, so I like to try to keep it child-led when possible. You can expect crafts to come home during every holiday!

Lindsay, COTA/L
Why I love working in pediatrics:
Working in pediatrics is incredibly rewarding because it allows me to combine a holistic and specialized understanding of each individual child and their families with the pure joy of helping them find success, understanding, and thriving together. There is something profoundly meaningful about stepping into a child’s life during their most critical formative years to teach them how to unlock their full potential by using creative and playful approaches to evidence-based frameworks – whether it’s calming the nervous system, reflex integration, sensory processing, play-based feeding, vestibular-ocular training, parent education, or the many other therapeutic approaches we can offer in Occupational Therapy. Children are brilliant, resilient, and full of adventure – they are truly amazing to me. Being able to guide them through therapeutic breakthroughs while supporting their families is more than just a professional path; it is a true calling that brings immense purpose to every single day. I love supporting, teaching, and caring for my patients and families!
My favorite things to work on:
All things Occupational Therapy are my favorite to work on, interventions and skills are endless, it is hard to pick favorites. I will explain my favorite way to have therapy sessions though. At the forefront of my therapy sessions are play-based and child-led approaches. Focusing on the child’s motivations, comfort or “regulation”, and happiness are what drive actual neurological change. When a session is truly play-based, it taps into a child’s intrinsic motivation. Children do not naturally practice a skill; they move, explore, and interact because they are driven to play. From a neurodevelopmental perspective, when a child is actively engaged in a self-chosen, joyful activity, their brain is in an optimal state for neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to reorganize and form new neural connections). Play lowers the stress response, shifting the nervous system out of defensive “fight or flight” state and into regulated, receptive state. This regulation is a prerequisite for complex motor planning, sensory processing, reflex integration and more to take hold. Being child-led means meeting the child exactly where their nervous system is at that moment. I weave therapeutic interventions into the child’s chosen activity turning hard developmental work into meaningful, fun, and playful exploration that is secretly building skills.
A little about me:
I have been a COTA for over five years here at Little Works in Progress. I am currently back in school with my goal set on becoming a Master of Occupational Therapy. I am certified in Integrated Listening Systems, trained in Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration, and Beckman Oral Motor – and continuing to gain knowledge. Outside of work, I am a Holistic Nutritionist and Gut Specialist. Holistic approaches to health/wellness are something I am constantly expanding my knowledge in. I have many hobbies and interests such as plants, gardening, crafting, lifting/working out, hiking, traveling, camping, etc – basically anything outdoorsy, natural, active, artsy, or learning. I have three dogs, one cat, and six chickens with a dream of homesteading one day on a small farm near the mountains or in Japan.
What families can expect from me:
When you work with me, you can expect a true partner who sees your child not just a set of goals or behaviors, but as a whole, unique individual with their own strengths, personality, and brilliant potential. My approach is deeply holistic, meaning I look at how your child’s sensory, physical, and emotional worlds connect on every level, and how we can best support their growth within daily life. There are many pieces to the puzzle to consider and I am here to help you place the puzzle together. Caregivers are true experts of their child, therefore, family support and open collaboration are at the heart of therapy. We will work hand-in-hand to build practical strategies that support the home, school, or any environment needed. Most importantly, you can expect our time together to be filled with genuine care and support, along with a lot of fun, play, and laughter.

Rebecca, OTD, LOTR
Why I love working in pediatrics:
I love seeing the world through a child’s eyes. Every child learns differently, and it’s a privilege to help them discover what they can do while celebrating the small moments that often become the biggest victories.
My favorite things to work on:
I enjoy helping children build functional skills through handwriting, sensory play that encourages learning and exploration, activities of daily living (ADLs), executive functioning, and life skills that foster confidence and independence in everyday routines.
A little about me:
I’m a Bossier City native and earned my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from LSU Health Shreveport. When I’m not in the therapy gym, I’m probably planning my wedding, searching for my next adventure, enjoying a great cup of coffee, going for a run, spending time on the lake, or making memories with my favorite people.
What families can expect from me:
I believe the best therapy happens when children feel safe, understood, and excited to learn. Families can expect someone who listens, celebrates every step forward, and meets each child where they are while helping them grow toward greater confidence and independence.
